Savannah’s Playground was founded in 1999 when a local resident approached the Myrtle Beach City Council with the idea of creating an all-inclusive playground. The council saw the value of this vision and partnered with local businesses, non-profits, and private donors to make the vision a reality. This commitment to creating an accessible and enjoyable playground has continued to this day.

Savannah’s Playground is proud to be recognized by the Association of Great American Playgrounds as a "great playground" with high standards in access, safety, and play value. In 2010, it was also awarded the prestigious Accessible Playground Award from the National Association for Inclusion.
