Some of the best memories from childhood are from camps and other group activities during the summer months. Those events are perfect for meeting new friends and doing activities that are not easily found or joined other times. At Coastal Adaptive Sports, we know that often a camp with modifications and mindful design and planning can be a huge thing in the life of a young person who happens to have disabilities. With that in mind, we want to give our athletes info to help them find an awesome adaptive sports camp in the Carolinas.

Usually each camp is focused on providing optimum experiences for certain needs, such as those associated with autism or mobility limitations. To determine the best fit for your goals, please follow the links to the websites for more information. The camps will often have Facebook pages as well, which can be good for more up to date info and have a greater repository for pictures and reviews. Also, some camps require official diagnoses, vaccinations, and other qualifications, for example state residency.

For adaptive sports services and activities in general, Move United is an excellent resource. For finding an adaptive sports camp specifically and in your area, though, there isn’t a one-stop-shop. Let’s look at some camps or workshops in the Carolinas with great reviews and the means and focus of providing an excellent experience for athletes.

Choosing an adaptive sports camp can be a great opportunity to build friendships, develop skills, and simply celebrate with a little fun. We hope you’ll find one that fits your plans perfectly.

While we have you here (shameless plug coming), we would love to see you or your loved one experience one of our local Wheel to Surf events. No joke, it’s tons of participants and volunteers having a splashing good time at the beach. There will be adaptive surfboards and other modified equipment, plus dozens of volunteers that make the day fun and safe. Also, if you live near the North Myrtle Beach area, we would love for you to participate in one of our other adaptive sports programs, like wheelchair basketball, cycling, kayaking, and even our paralympic games. Contact us to volunteer or participate, and to see our calendar of events!
